Udawalawe National Park is world famous for its large elephant populations. In this park one can observe elephants at any given time of the day. Other than Elephants water buffalo, spotted & barking deer, wild boar, sambhur, jackal & ruddy, grey & striped necked mongoose are also found in this park. Though the leopard, jungle & fishing cats have recorded in the park sightings are very rare. The park is also famous for various bird life.
Where else in Sri Lanka one enjoy viewing migratory shorebirds in their thousands,Elephant ,Crocodiles and two kinds of Monkeys specially Flamingos. Bundala National Park is the Ramsar wetland with lagoons, border to south coast.
Yala National Park is one of the best places for sightings of wild Elephants and Leopards .The park is home to many animals including Buffaloes, , Monkeys, Circles, Crocodiles, Wild boars and Bears.Tangalla will be the best stop if you wish to do Yala on the way to south .after 3 hours safari will take around one and half hours drive to Tangalla.
